Mark Wilder:
"The A-side of the original album was recorded in Paris in 1957 for
the Ascenseur pour lŽechafaud soundtrack while the B-side was recorded
in New York in 1958. Naturally, perfect sonic continuity between the two
sides was going to be impossible. For the A-side material, we boosted
the bass slightly and subtracted mid and high frequencies. We also made
small adjustments to the tape machine head so there would be proper
treble playback from song to song. For the B-side, we worked from the
session reels. Only a small boost in the bass was needed to match the
original mono LP." |
